There are many fine buildings in the town which is dominated by the magnificent Minster and St Mary's Church, both of which date back to medieval times as does the Friary. Other attractions include Beverley Treasure House, Art Gallery and Museum as well as the Beverley Racecourse. There are two trails to follow in the town, one following the Medieval Guilds and Crafts, the other celebrating the famous artist Fred Elwell and his wife Mary. Replicas of their beautiful paintings can be seen on buildings in the town by following the Fred and Mary trail. It is the general ambience of the town, however, which is the chief attraction. The Westwood affords a pleasant evening stroll and a fine view of the town.BEVERLEY is a centre from which many good places can be visited. In HULL you will find an excellent museum quarter which includes:- Ferens Art Gallery, the Town Dock Museum, the Streetlife Museum, the Hull and East Riding Museum, Wilberforce House, the Arctic Corsair, the Hull Maritime Museum, Maister House, Trinity House and The Deep, an icon of Hull, which is one of the largest aquariums in the world. In the surrounding area can be found The Humber Bridge, Burton Agnes Hall, Burton Constable Hall, Burnby Hall Gardens, Skidby Windmill, Sewerby Hall, Bridlington Harbour, Sledmere House, Bempton Cliffs (RSPB), Hornsea Mere, Hornsea Museum of Village Life, Castle Howard, York, Lincoln, Howden and the North Yorkshire Moors. It is a good centre for exploring The Wolds (so loved by David Hockney) either by walking The Wolds Way or by cycling through them on the Big Sky Bike Ride (circular day rides on quiet roads and country lanes).
